I woke up to another little Salmon Faverolle![]()
With the Salmon Favorelle you can tell roo from pullet pretty quick
. The roos have a lot of black and the pullets don't so if they start sprouting black feathers we have a roo. Now let's hope it's not like my Nellie orps and rooster yahtzee![]()

Unfortunately with shipped eggs it's just a gamble, my last batch of silkie eggs I got shipped and I threw one mutt egg in just for the fun of it and my mutt egg was the only one that made it. There are so many things to factor in when dealing with shipped eggs it's hard to narrow it down. But if you mutt eggs hatched you must be doing everything right. Could be rough handling from PO, detached aircells, unfertile eggs......just so many questions with shipped eggs.

Hi all,
I just posted this question separately, but then I thought this might be a good thread to ask this question... how do I piggy back eggs? I have two full incubators and 12 more eggs that I need to set today!!
Do I need to turn the autoturner off and hand turn until I candle and get rid of the duds? Do the piggy backed eggs just go in the spaces between eggs? I have a fan (Hovabator), so I don't need to worry that the piggy backed eggs are just a bit higher than the eggs in the autoturner groves, right (fan evens out slight temperature gradients, right)?
Totally appreciate thoughts.... thanks!
