Sorry
If you hand turn I would always turn that one last incase of bacteria
Thanks! Luckily I have an autoturner and tomorrow they go into lockdown so I won't have to touch them too much, I will just make sure that that egg always gets handled last. Good advice.
Since my rotten egg experience I have also taken up the habit of using hand sanitizer between each egg I touch just to be safe. Yep, I think it's safe to say that I have scrubbed off at least 2 layers of skin by now, lol.
Sometimes I wonder where kids get these ideas from. That was about all the excitement I could handle in one evening!
LOL That sounds like something my brother would have done when he was little - he once dumped an entire bottle of vegetable oil on our kitten (who threw up repeatedly after trying to lick himself clean, BUT he was remarkably soft until he passed away a few years ago)! I hope the little chicky does okay...
As an aside, because I'm obsessed with it now....hand sanitizer does not actually kill lots of common bacteria including E. Coli and the Mycobacteriums and tons more. The only thing my microbiology lab (I'm a full time student) found that it worked against was Staphlococcus Aureus, which is found naturally on the skin (it can cause what we people like to call "food poisoning" symptoms when proper hand washing technique isn't used). Soap and water is usually best - and you don't even really need antibacterial soap. Soap naturally causes bacteria to lose the ability to "stick" to your skin and it washes down the drain. Okay, okay...I'm off my soapbox. Ha! That pun wasn't even intended....
Oh, and BTW silkymom1986, awesome calender...it is officially saved in my Chicken Files!
Sorry
