I'm becoming really concerned about my little egg that pipped in the wrong end, I woke early this morning to check them and he had a HUGE pip hole and I noticed blood on the membrane, he was not moving or chirping anymore. Is it possible that he pecked a blood vessel over night while trying to get out? I also noticed the membrane was very dry, which I think is due to the excessively large pip, so I took my emergency incubator out and popped him in there wrapped up in a warm washcloth. I am still hoping but it doesn't look too good. Anyone have any advice?
In other happier news I have one fully hatched little Sizzle chick running around in the incubator and since it hatched there has been another pip!
s/he is beautiful and dark, not exactly sure as to what color it is yet as it's still pretty wet, but hopefully I can post some pictures later on!!
From what I have read they can break a blood vessel while zipping! Search for Pete55 - he has threads on how to help an egg hatch. After losing a few I do help a little.....

Thank you so much, I will look that up and I will keep you updated on what happens.
I have a few ??able ones too, but they are still in and off to the side.
Lockdown is so frustrating and nerve racking! LOL!
I'm in there constantly too, trying to find a pip and making myself crazy.!
I have Geckos and other birds in the room, so I'm in there alot to begin with.
Now, My son comes running out tonight in a panic because the humidity jumped to 60%!
He knows lockdown, is do not open, and no turning, but I forgot to explain the riasing the humidity!
Poor guy was in a panic. :lol
That's great that he was concerned!!
Good luck! I can't wait to see the babies!!
Hi Bikerchic,
Yes, it was.
He's 14, and we've raised all kinds of birds over the years, and he's always taken a huge interest in it. As little as 6 I've let him help with hand feeding birds.
