Anyone HATCHING?!?!? Newbie's and addicts WELCOME!!!! Hatch Calendar page 1!!!!

Don't give up on them yet, if you have had temp drops during incubation they can hatch late, I've had them hatch on day 23 before, but I think that's the latest I have had.

you start seeing some pips soon!!

I went in to check on the eggs this morning, having dreamt that some eggs hatched in the night... but nope nothing... The incubator had dropped down to 96.5!! I thought Brinseas were supposed to be reliable? The red light on the top of the bator indicates that it is holding a steady temp... hmmmmmm Its still only Day 22 Day 23 starts tonight at 6:30pm .....

My other eggs go into lockdown tonight.... They will stay iin my hovobator which has been rock solid holding temps. So hopefully something in there will hatch!!

We just loaded up our incubator with 288 eggs. Oh my, what was I thinking. haha I am new to this site and really like all the info.
We just got into chickens less than a year ago and are now totally addicted. Our flock of ten bantams have grown to over 300 standard breeds.
Love every one of them.

Oh WOW!!! That's alot of eggs, lol. Welcome to BYC!! Glad you joined, there is so much great info. My husband and I got chickens a little over a year ago, started with 3 hens and 1 roo, now have 15, just sold a few last week. Gosh I can't imagine how many eggs you get, lol

I have 39 eggs in the bator now, and this is the biggest batch I have ever set. What kind of incubator do you have? Keep us updated on your hatch!

Well I think I fail AGAIN on my second try

I was hoping there will be a surprise when I woke up. Twice they seem to died during the lockdown . I had temps at 99 and humidity around 71% There were never bothered during lockdown. I really dont know what happens there !. I have THREE more eggs in another incubator . They are due Feb 7th. I dont know how to prepare for them during the Lockdown.

If it fails again, thats the end of it for me. I am really sad !!!

are possibly your humidity levels too high during the incubation period prior to lockdown? maybe they are drowning once they break air sac? after day 6 I **** near ran a dry incubation, maybe added a teaspoon of water every other day, I was waiting 12-18 hours after I noticed no water in incubator before adding a teaspoon. then added a ton to the water troughs in the bottom of the LG still air on approx day 18 1/2 and began lockdown. Then day 20, very early morning(almost end of day 19) out came the first. Then in early hours of morning day 21, out came 2nd. Now waiting on #3. Since 2nd hadnt pipped yet and 1st one out was 95% dry, I pulled her out and put her in brooder box. She started eating some of the chick starter gel stuff, and drinking water. She snuggled up to her teddy bear a few times, just waiting on her friends to come out and dry off to join her.

so humidty levels too high? I am confused , few people think thats was ok when its 71% But I am guessing its possible thats what kills them.??? So my next one due Feb 7th. Should I leave them alone without adding more water. ? I think before the lockdown it was 54% I have nothing to lose. I am learning here. Thanks for all your help..

It sounds like a humidity issue. You need to read the thread on dry incubation and check the humidity of your home. I live in a humid area and have to do complete dry incubations till day 18 or my peeps drown. 71% is too high for eggs prior to day 18. 50% is too. You can open the eggs and confirm this by checking to see if there is excess moisture under the membrane. Don't give up just yet, read the thread on dry incubation (I can't remember who wrote it) but it was very helpful to me. :)
