Anyone hatching on January 5th???? I got chickies everywhere!!! PICS

Aww I am sorry to hear that

I had to rehome my rooster so that is why I did my first two hatches - I wanted some of him around. I can only keep girls so thankfully I got a fair amount of them. I hope your hatch goes well.

I'm not sure how viable these eggs I got are. They look kinda... old. A lot. Like, the seller said they were three days old at the most prior to shipping but they seemed somewhat discolored inside before I set them and their air sacks were clear as a bell... not to mention the post office may not have handled them as well. Several air sacks were detached and moving. ><

Trying anyway but hopes aren't very high now

I candled my eggs last night (day 5) and whoo hooo! It looks like 14 of the 16 I set are definitely developing! 2 are questionable but I'll give those guys plenty more time before I make any decisions.

I am so egg-cited!!

I think I am going to try the egg-carton method this time...any words of advice?

Congrats!!! I candled again last night too, lol I just get so excited I have to keep checking, and all of them are still alive and moving around. I will give mine till lockdown, maybe beyond if I'm not really sure. I was thinking about the egg carton method too but don't really know. The last hatch I only had 5 eggs so I just made little papertowel cups. Would like to know what others do too.

That sounds exactly like the eggs I received. Not a single one of them looked good but I put them in anyway and all of them have chickies growing! I wasn't hopeful either but now I believe just about anything can happen. I will keep my fingers crossed the same happens for you Rin

I know its only day three going on day four but yea nada so far. Hopes run low. Should know for sure on Tuesday at least.

I am hatching sixteen Serama, two modern gamehens, and also seven cuckoo's and three barred rocks. I have candled all of the eggs twice and all look really good to this point, but I'm always unsure of the Seramas as a lot of them die just before hatch. I hate that but have come to accept and understand the lethal gene problem. My hatch is due on the fifth of Jan also. I wish all hatchers of January great success so they can start off the new year in a positive and prosperous way. Paraclete 2

yea It's day 5 and all but one egg seems completely clear/yellow inside and that one just has a reddish tinge to it.

With the last batch by now it was very obvious who was doing anything and who wasn't but meh, leaving them all till day 10

I have 2 Seramas in the incubator and 2 under my broody. I'm a little nervous about them but realize there is nothing I can really do. They will either make it or they won't

I am hoping for the best. I heard Seramas hatch a day or two earlier than other chicks so I'm putting them into lockdown a day early. Do you do this?

Good luck with your hatch and please keep up updated!

And sorry Rin

I will hope for that one egg to make it! I am going to candle again in a day or two and see what is going on. I'm not really good at telling one way or another unless I actually see the chick moving in the egg, so I will probably end up leaving most if not all of them till the end and just seeing what happens.
