Day 20: Woke up this morning still have only three pips went to my sons swim lessons at 9:30 come home to this little black copper marans gal at 11 am and she just pipped this morning at 7am!

also since she hatched I have gotten three more pips so five chirping and pipping away! She just wants to take a nap but all the pipping eggs keep waking her up haha

this one pipped at the wrong end!

and 4 of the other pips are my back copper marans too!

My hen is just a straight EE, our rooster is a Buckeye so the babies I hatched/will hatch are mixes but mama is just a plain ol' EE. I actually think the babies are even friendlier than the straight EE!

Somehow I'm posting on 3 hatching threads. Guess I'll just have to repeat myself.

My pheasant eggs are on day 22 and the chickens on day 18. I've locked down the bator and filled it up with water. Some eggs are rocking, but none are pipping yet. Think my hygrometer has gone bad so I'm going to pick up another.

Congrats on your hatches everyone. Hope to be sharing my pics soon.

Americana-chick, I don't know if it helped or not, but our EEs were from the local farm store Chick Day and Cleo's Friend was about 15 months old when she went broody. She lays blue eggs. We have 3 nest boxes and kept a dozen golf balls for about a month in the one she finally settled in. A few f the girls had been laying in that nest with the golf balls, although we collected every day. We only gave her 24 hours of trial setting before we gave her real eggs.
I had been filling an egg carton with fresh eggs and keeping it on the counter HOPING for broodiness for the past two months.

She is halfway there.

I dont believe there are such things as "strait EEs.." Maybe you mean Ameraucana?

yep, what they said! EE's are mutt's Ameraucana and ??? Do EE's have the beard like ameraucana's? Ijust got 3 pure ameraucana's and was just wondering

Honestly I'm not sure. We ordered them from Mt Healthy as day old Araucanas/Ameraucanas pullets which was why i didn't want to presume they were pure breed, maybe they are.

if you are familiar I can upload some pics of the three ladies and maybe you can tell.

the babies I hatched in the first round are feathering out beautifully, i really should take some more pics. My avatar is a pic of them with my daughter, not sure how well you can see it. I do have pics of them up on my BYC page.
