anyone hatching on or around the 28th?

How soon can I candle the eggs? I'm getting antsy to see what's happening in the eggies. This is our fist try with the bator, and I'm so paranoid Im going to screw things up.

I'm very nervous about screwing things up too! I did manage to candle a few today (Day 4), but most of mine are brown, so I couldn't see much, but My one small white mystery egg has a tiny blob with veining, I'm so excited!

I have 3 light brown, 1 dark brown, and 1 green. I tried last night, we were one day 5. I wasn't doing them in a dark enough area, so I couldn't see through the dark brown and green shells. All I could see in the 3 light brown were a dark blob and an air sac. Here's hoping!!!

I need to try again in a few days.

I'm seeing veins! As someone who's already done a nearly total failure hatch, I don't know if candling helps or not. Don't mess it up, don't mess it up, don't mess it up.... sigh.

Now to NOT touch them again for ten days... ugh...

All I ever saw was that dark blob, never any veining. I could see it last time and this time by day 4, and I have brown shells. I am using a flashlight, but not a real bright one.

Warmfuzzies, how did your last hatch go? We had a broody on eggs. and when I candled them all I could see was the dark blob too. Unfortunately, our broody stopped pooping and ended up dying from a plugged vent. We lost her and our chicks 2 days before hatch

. I'm hoping our dark blobs amount to something this time since we're using a bator.

lilchick, I had 23 hatch from 41 fertile. Not a great hatch, but my temps were really high the first three days. The ones that did not hatch looked just like the others, but they stopped growing at about 8 days incubation or so.

By 18 days all you can see is solid all the way through, except for the air cell.
