Im honestly suprised one of my homegrown eggs didnt pip yet, i figured they would pip before the shipped eggs but nope. I hope to get some beutiful blue and splash orps and some gorgerous dutch, im in that zone where nothing is right until the hatch is over lol.

HELP! I just took out egg turner..day 18. I put eggs in towel and all was going well. I can't see too well and could not see if water was in all troughs of the Hova-bator. I tried to pick up screen to see plastic liner,(not knowing they were fastened together and poured all the water in bottom of bator. I poured it out and tried again but not sure if I got too much water or not. Patted screen dry with paper towers. Bator now 93 degrees an humidity already from 54 to 70. Do I need to do anything else?? or just hope they think mama jumped off the nest and it cooled down a little.

What are the limits on humidity? What do I do if it is too high? I knew things were just running too too smooth!! I pray I didn't blow it at this late stage of the game.

Input Please!

Carolyn

I just completed a hatch on the 22nd. I kept my bator between 55-60% humidity and 100 degrees until day 18. Then I boosted the humidity to 70% and kept the temp at 100. I have an LG that has 2 red plugs that you can take out for ventilation. I had one out and would put the other one in and take it out as need to control my humidity. It was a system that worked well for me. I had a 100% hatch rate. What kind of chicks are you hatching?

Looks like you aren't alone.

I have a Runner duck sitting on a little clutch of seven eggs due to hatch (any day??). I was so obsessive last time (and then she gave up setting a few days before they were due) so I decided not to be quite so certain when they'd be due this time. But I candle a few every several days when she's off the nest and a couple of days ago they were pretty solid black with no veins showing so I'm assuming I'm a few days away from internal pipping. (And, as of yesterday, 'Mom' doesn't seem to wander very far from the nest in search of food, water and a bath.)

This will be my first hatch if it's successful, and I'll be watching for everyone's experiences (and pics) over the next few days.

When I left home this morning at 10, I had four pips on the 15 americaunas due tomorrow. I will not be home until almost midnight so may have some hatched fuzzy butts by then. Just hate that I am missing the show. The 28 others are due on Thursday.

I just realized that along with my power outage yesterday my bator was not running. Off course I wasn't home and the power must have been of for about 3 hours! Great just great......I think the hatching gods are angry at me!!! Yesterday was day 17, Maybe just maybe something will still hatch...
