That is exactly what mine are doing. It IS making me crazy! I keep getting worried that there won't be another one and then another pip! But the waiting is hard!
Okay, I'm thinking my temps may have been just a teeny bit on the low side. I went to check on 'that pip', and there was a new chick out, from a different egg!!
Plus that pip is still just a pip, but I have another one with a pretty good sized hole in the shell!
So I'm up to 4 hatched, 2 pips, and 6 more to
for!! Either my temps were off, or I got my dates messed up. I still don't think I have it completely figured out!
I am not even really sure what day I set them to be honest. I just put the 'hatch date' on my homepage 'to do' list. I think I have been going by them being due three weeks from the day before they were set, but I always set them at night. So, I should probably go by 3 weeks from the day they were set. Say like, if I set them at 9pm on Monday, they should be due 3 weeks later on Monday? It is so confusing!! I know this past summer I was thinking I had them all hatching way early, when they were like a day. I was going by 'setting them on Monday morning, due on Monday', which would make it 22 days, not 21. So I'm thinking they were supposed to start hatching tonight, not last night like I had thought. I have been keeping the humidity around 45-50%, and the temps have been about 100. So that seems all right, unless my thermos are off by more than I think. I checked them together, and there was maybe a .5 degree difference between them.
I know we are supposed to count from the day after if we set in the evening, but I have gotten confused somewhere! I think I might have it figured out, but like I said, I honestly don't know when I set these!
45 to 50 might be good but for hatching i would say between 60 to 70 % especially if you have the temp at 100 you dont want the membrain and chick to dry out in the egg
