Anyone have a guess on my Silkie’s and my Buff Brahma’s gender??

Not sure on exact age. I have only had them for two weeks.

The silkie, She/he hides behind the other girls in the flock. She/he is definitely not a leader or assertive at all.

The Buff Brahma is the leader for sure. She makes sure everyone is ok and settles all disputes quickly. Everything about her says hen to me except two tail feathers. Again I am very new to chickens so thought I would ask.

Thanks to all who take a look

They both look like a couple of hens to me. I've had lots of silkies, so I can easily say that I don't see any rooster features in that one. I'm not as experienced in brahmas, but I don't see any of the attributes that would imply that it is a rooster. Sometimes you just get a hen that wants to be in charge, especially if you don't have any roosters already.

Thank you for taking a look. I appreciate it.

The Silkie is likely a rooster...that comb is pretty fleshy for a younger bird...which I can tell from feather growth (which Silkies do not have male or female feathers...they both have silkied feathers). It also stands a bit tall and lanky.

The Brahma is a hen. The tail feathers are not rooster tail feathers but funk from juvenile molt.

Temperament is meaningless when comparing two different breeds. Silkies are often more docile, especially in a flock of larger birds, especially if they are junior in age.

Thank you. My Brahma much outsized the rest of the flock I received. And I thought she would dominate regardless. The silkie has some qualities that after research has made me wonder. Either way they all seem to get along
