OK, my birthday came and went without my much desired gift .....a bator. I am trying to take it with a "grain of salt" and buy my own bator(all the while humming Happy Birthday under my breath, ha). Someone told me that she had really great results with a 1588?Havobator. Anyone have an extra stashed somewhere they could/sould sell ? The new ones are not "cheep"(sorry I could NOT resist!) Anyone PM me if you do and thanks for listening to me whine........

I offered another BYC'er a hovabator, turner and hygrometer for $125 plus shipping. I don't know how much shipping will be until Monday. I have four of them, so even if he buys one I can still sell you another one.

Oh, sorry, mine is 1602n. I have hatched a LOT of chicks this year from it though. just put it somewhere that the temp is steady. I lent it out to a total noob and she hatched 26 out of 32 Jersey Giant eggs her first time, AND she had washed the eggs and stored them pointy side up for ten days first!

mine (ended up buying a second one a few months later).
Bought the first one off Surehatch.com--$180 ('bator/turner/shipping). It was my "belated Christmas gift" to myself.

The second one I bought directly from GQF because I wanted the 12V battery adapters for when the power goes out--It seemed their prices were pretty comparable and I got my stuff from them much quicker!!

thanks folks , perhaps someone will see my post and have one.....I have a source of eggs waiting for me to purchase a bator and I just can't swing a new one. what is the diff in the 1588 and the one you are discussing.....sorry I am bator stupid and the reason the 1588 was suggested is that it seemed to be good for newbies.

You mean onthespot's 1602n?--this is a still air.
the 1588 is a circulated air (has a fan), also has a "pre-set" thermostat in it--basically you add water in the channels it tells you to, and plug it in. Check w/ a thermometer/hydrometer that everything is okay and add your eggs (takes ~12hrs to warm up and humidity level off).

But--newbies also have done great with the 1602n.

Me--I'm not home for possibly 14-16hrs at a time because of my shifts at work so the 1588 is working great for me!
