I would LOVE to learn how to spin wool right off the rabbit. I have found a couple videos on the web of people with the angora rabbit in their lap and the spinning wheel a turning. I think it would be relaxing.
I decorate eggs using the Ukrainian style of wax and dyes! My avatar is a blue duck egg graced with Pale Spiked Lobelia flowers. You can also check out my website for my other designs. I also like gardening and of course chickens. My would like to do list is a lot longer....spinning, pottery, stained glass, blowing glass, the list goes on and on. I would pretty much like to try anything at least once!
Here are a few of my most favorite designs:
"Persia" based on a Persian prayer rug (turkey egg)
Hummingbird and Scarlet Trumpet Honeysuckle (turkey egg)
Glad you like them, they are my passion. A good site to read up on pysanky or Ukrainian eggs is http://www.learnpysanky.com. The basic tools are simple and cheap. As you progress, you can buy the more expensive stuff. But to start, all you need is a candle, beeswax, dyes, jars to put the dyes in, eggs, pencil, papertowel, and most importantly the kistky or writing tool. I have the electric versions of the writing tools but the non electric ones that you heat by candle are really good, as long as you buy the right kind. If you are intersted, pm and I can direct you to some supply sites.
Hey Cindy, you write eggs too? There is another member on BYC that does too that contacted me. Having chickens just seemed like a natural progression of my art
I am surrounded by bins, baskets, cabinets and boxes of eggs and some from our own chickens (hopefully next month) will be so special!
