A friend of mine has about 50 chickens, random breeds, some bantams. He has a pheasant in one of his pens with the chickens. Does anyone else have one and how does having a pheasant affect the flock?
I have a silver pheasant that was raised with my peacocks. They free ranged during the day and slept with the chickens at night. He has his girls now, so he has his own pen. I also hatched and raised two ringneck males with my chickens until they got girlfriends. I never had a problem. I never let the ringnecks free range, but the silver was sooo funny to watch!
my aunt Marlene has pheasants and she keeps them with her chickens. they ignore each other profusely but don't shy away from each other. she has a really big, high, covered run so that the pheasants can stretch their wings. they seem to get along more or less.
Ringneck roosters will sometimes cross-breed with chickens. We have a visitor who dances for our hens...
