Somehow the one we have seems odd and not sure how it looks installed properly so you can still drive with out it being too low and where the top pin thingy sets properly.....lol....does it fold under or fold back when driving.. Our will fling forward from the top if you hit a root...striking the pto shield even thou shear pin is fine......????????

You do have a 3 point hitch configuration on your tractor don't you? Because I am confused. Are you talking about a spring tine cultivator or chisel plow, or a rock rake, and not a subsoiler?

Here is a video of a subsoiler in action and there is no way that the top of it could spring forward and hit the PTO output shaft guard even if it hit the biggest rock or root in the universe. They are not made to do that. It should stop the tractor in its tracks if you hit something under ground that solid.

Say, wouldn't that be handy to help bury the wire skirt for your chicken pens to help make them predator proof?

No, it's a subsoiler for our 3 point hitch.....its a straight up and down model and the top arm pin was too small ....we figured it out some....need to get side arm adjuster thingys that go shorter too to raise it up higher, but got it rigged up so we can use it in this soft sand.......... I don't know how we ever ran water line without it........
Just watched that video......better pic then I could find, thank you. We didnt use a pipe attachment...just drilled a hole 2inches back in the pipe, ran a chain on each side and pinned thru the hole...duct taped the end of pipe to avid dirt and looped chain around subsoiler foot....... So easy.......

We'd need some photos, really. This is a little subsoiler, that also has a potato plow or middle buster plate that normally just stays on the implement. You can see the furrows it makes. I've made them as deep as 14" but this small attachment only goes that deep. Other models can go as deep 18" if the shaft of the subsoiler is longer, by design.

The top link prevents the subsoiler from flipping toward the PTO. I'm not sure what it is you are facing. The lower 3 pt arms lift and lower the subsoiler. Mine has no shear pins, but the tractor is under 30 horse power so the subsoiler can stop the tractor's forward movement and the tires just spin.

The 2 arms from the tractor...that hold the side arms to the 3 point wouldn't adjust up to bring it high enough....its a pretty deep shaft on it....so he had used a shorter top link so he could still drive with it on.....but it allowed it to fold forward when a.root was hit.....banging into the pto. Shield. I looked at more pics and went out and adjusted it with a longer toplink and moved side arms up some.but our 40 hrs tractor was rigged here and there...so must get proper attachments now that I know what I'm looking at. Still were able to use it in this very soft sand...and pulling waterline pipe with it was great.....
Thank you for all your help. It will be a great tool once I get it adjusted correctly....I have a bunch of wire to run also.....
