Anyone have advice about HOA and roosters?

I am not too worried about it, but I live on almost 2 acres in a development that has mostly 1 acre lots. I have lived here 23 years, about 21 years into it or so they decided to "disallowing roosters" I have a neighbor who complained. (my rooster always went into a sleep-y box at night, but another neighbor had a rooster who crowed alot and the neighbor assumed it was my rooster) I got rid of my roosters, and the neighbor with the noisey rooster kept his for another 2 years till coyotes killed it recently, crowing in the summer starting at 4:30 am. Any how, I have still hatched and been lucky finding homes for all my roosters. I currently have 2 roosters left, young ones that have not started to crow yet. I am going to keep them as long as possible, and keep them quiet as I can, (I have a lady who would like my last two roosters.) I just don't think I should have to give them up, I had roosters before this other guy moved in, and he is always Mr. Projects, saws going all the time and no quiet days for myself all summer. Just wanted to hear if others has similar problems and what they did to solve it.

Not exactly the same...but when we moved in the HOA had fence rules - they had to be "decorative"...so we paid the extra bucks for our dog fencing.....and only a couple of years later saw folks putting up galvanized fence and dog pens.. As well as other exceptions to the rules.

Can you find any variances in other rules in your neighborhood? If you can, then you could petition the HOA for your exception to have roosters?

IMO dogs are more noisy

This is why I ignore it, people are supposed to be tidy and all, but not everyone is. I have not seen them enforce anything.

take a look at your city ordinances they should allow yours as you have a hobby farm in the two acres

Purchase a strip of double backed 2" wide velcro fro JoAnn fabrics. cut enough off to comfortably and snugly wrap around their neck just above their crop. They are gonna hate it and put on a great show. After an hour they will settle down. Better to be a tad too loose and them being to loud and having to readjust it a bit smaller. I have five rooster and the hens which i'm allowed to have are louder after laying an egg than their crowing.

I have used the upper part of my little bootie socks as no-crow collar and that has helped, they really don't like something on their necks. Just got velcro (vel-crow, haha ) today for my x-country ski boots, I may try an experiment if these guys start crowing. funny, because I would always keep the roosters that didn't crow as much then their babies didn't crow as much and so on. Would be nice to have a crowless rooster, but the longest I had a no-crower for real was about 6-7 months old.

I do too have a very strict HOA, getting chickens alone was a huge undertaking... have you tried offering eggs to the complaining neighbors? You can't beat farm fresh eggs
