Anyone Have Any Cheap Red-Neck Plucker Ideas ?

Thanks so much for the kind offer but right now I am only planning on doing one duck this weekend. Thats why I was just wanting something really simple that could be easily rigged up. And I am in South Ga. in Berrien County so we are a bit farther away than what I can travel too so I will see if I can get something small rigged up for the time being until I have a larger load to process. Thanks again for the very nice offer though.

How are the straps held into the PVC cap?

I drilled holes in the PVC cap along the lines you see. I also trimmed down the sides of the straps about 1/8" on either side, but left the last 1/2" untrimmed to act as a stopper. I cut the tips so it was a bit pointed so I could get the straps started into the hole, then pulled them through with pliers. The hole needs to be smaller than the width of the trimmed strap so it stays put. The individual fingers are about 3.5" long. Lasty, I ran the drill plucker against some 50 grit sandpaper to take off the shine and give the fingers more grip.

Thanks for adding that last part, I was wondering if I should score up the straps to give extra little grabbing claws. Does this thing not tear the skin at all ?

Hahaha, Yeah the bird might not be the only one getting plucked if you did that. What do you think about this type of things on ducks Steve ? I know we discussed hand plucking in my other thread but do you think something like this could be effective on ducks too with their different feathering? Keep in mind I wont have time to bother with wax and all that, I could do some dish detergent to loosen up the feather oils to let the water get down in there, but thats about it.

Thats what I figured too, do you think maybe I should lather up the duck and really work the soap down into the feathers by hand before before putting it in the scalding water ?
