anyone have cats?

My kitties:

Jasmine was found very pregnant, by my daughter, in a plastic box floating in a small river near where she works. She brought her home and 3 days later, she had 5 gorgeous kittens. We found homes for 3 with friends. Jasmine is a tiny, petite, sweet little girl. All five of her daughters are huge, noisy brats!! LOL

Amber, One of the daughters we kept:

And Ginger, the other one:

Guinness, a snowshoe Siamese we adopted from a local shelter. This is a very typical pose for this lovebug of a boy:

And Cookie, the sealpoint Siamese we adopted after her owner had to be put in a nursing home following a stroke. Director of the same shelter we got Guinness from saw my daughter and knowing I am a sucker for Siamese, told her about Cookie. I picked her up yesterday:

Love looking at all the kitty pics. Love Cats!!! I have 10. Most are rescues. I miss having kittens around so bad, I mean I am jonesing. But I am 63 and I don't want to have any cats that will outlive me. So I am going to look into doing some fostering of moms and babies. Then, I have to really be prepared to let them go. Can I do it? I guess I need to so that I can help.

Have you considered adopting an older cat from your local shelter?

I once adopted a senior dog and I'm SO glad I did it. She was an American Eskimo. I only had her for about 3 years before she died of congestive heart failure. Believe it or not, she never had extensive vet bills or really any problems at all until the day she died. I was sad when she passed, but I felt so good that I'd given her a home and family to be a part of. She didn't have to pass away alone in a shelter.

Just a thought.

Mak, this is weird. I think I might have Jasmine's sibling, or cousin!! I'm less than an hour from you and my cat looks almost identical to yours! A friend of mine found her in the woods a few towns away (toward you!) and I adopted her. Her name is Dolly, and like Jasmine, she is tiny, petite, and very sweet. Here's a pic of just her, and then another one with her buddy Muddy, who looks a lot like her but is not related. Dolly is in the back. It's amazing how much Jasmine looks like my Dolly!

We have 13 cats. We always had 10 cats, that being the maximum I thought I could feed and pay vet bills for, but one day I went into the humane society and got to playing with a tiger cat. He and his two brothers had been there for 8 months. Word to the wise--if an animal has been at the shelter for a long time and is not stressed, that is a sweet, stable, wonderful animal. I knew that because I have an older shelter dog who also had been at the shelter for a long time. So, you guessed it, we added 3 cats to our household. They are all named Tim, because the kids couldn't tell them apart at first. By now, they have developed into weird Tim, normal Tim and really, really friendly Tim. I'd tell you about the rest of my cats but there just isn't room for a novel here.

She does look like Jazzy, though Jazzy was found in Concord, MA where my daughter works. They sure do look like they could be related, tho!

Group shot! The electric blanket I put in the garage was quite popular. Pounce (tabby) and Twister (calico) are in this picture too.

Everybody's cats are sooo cute!! I have 16 (all rescues/drop offs). I will post some pics later.

P.S. Ghostrider--your dog, the one without the harness, looks uncannily a lot like my dog...how wierd?! Do you know the lineage? I think mine is Greyhound x Pit Bull.
