Anyone have chicks due around Nov. 5th?

Oh my goodness! I'm sorry! I've been so busy I've forgotten to keep you updated.

Well, my broody mama #1 lost 2 eggs yesterday. Another hen got in her nest and squished them. They were so beautiful! The were developing perfectly. Hopefully the remaining 9 babies are developing just as well. I had another hen go broody about a week ago, and she has 6 eggs. Both broody mamas have been moved out of the coop to keep the rest of their eggs safe. Glad to hear your babies are hatching! How are they doing now?

Sorry to hear about your babies. Pray all goes well with the others.Thats great you have another broody hen! I had a hen go broody one day last wk.She has 7 eggs.The little one is sleeping a lot still.Got 2 more that pipped. I think the one that pipped wrong end has died but still hoping hes just resting. The others sway every once in a while.

Yay! Sorry to hear about the wrong that pipped wrong. For what it's worth, I had one pip at the wrong end once and he took FOREVER to hatch. I thought he had died, but I left him. He turned out fine. Keep me posted on your babies!

You should see her when I approach her nest! She puffs up all her feathers and squawks like a mama dinosaur.

One of my broodys does that! The other doesn't.

She shrieks and puffs up three times bigger than her usual size!

I have eggs in the bator and under two (used to be three) broody Silkie hens. The Silkies are sitting on "barnyard" mixes due the 6 (or so

, you never can tell with broodys). And in the bator I have 8 pure bred (black/blue mottled and mille fleur) D'uccle eggs due the 13th. I'll grab pictures tomorrow.

Thank you both i'll say a prayer for yours as well. I have 3 chicks so far. The one in the small EE egg didnt make it.She was doa when i went to help.The other that pipped wrong end is still alive but when i went to help there was blood so i only moved the shell at his beak.To scared to do anything else.3 eggs that have done nothing yet.

Oh good! November hatching buddies!!

I bought eggs on e-bay because the eggs my third broody (Ember, a Silkie as well as my other broodys ((Silkies are crazy!)) ) was sitting on were not fertile, so she sat on them for the whole 21 days, and no chicks hatched. Then I bought more eggs, off of BYC this time, and she sat on them for, about, 13 days (give or take a few) and then just, quit.

Those are the eggs I have in the incubator.

I started mine on Oct 16 and we got our first chick poking out an hour ago. It only took 18 days. I'm sure we will have a chick out by tomorrow morning. So excited.
