Are still airs the norm for a hatcher, I've been thinking about getting a second incubator for a hatcher?

May I please ask what kind of incubators each of you are using ? I've ordered a Hovabator but am also thinking about either a Brinsea or Rcom. Just love to hear everyone's tips and tricks before I put eggs in mine. These hatches sound so exciting. I can't wait to be able to join you all. :)

I have 2 Hovabotor 1602n, A word of warning though, the thermometer that comes with it is horrible, it was 10 degrees off both times i used it. Thankfully I was checking it with a good digital one

We set 34 eggs yesterday and would like to join the March hatching. We have 2 homemade incubators. We hatched 2 batches last year with good result so we are hoping for the same. We have americauna, wynadottes, barred rocks, and lavender orpingtons and a few mixed breeds from our flocks. This is our 1st time with shipped eggs. We are having a St. Patrick's day hatching party with our 4 year old daughters friends.

Hi everyone

I have 18 due on March 12th, the roo is a americauna, hens are various, have Rhode Island reds, white rock, black sexlinks and gold comets
this is my 3rd effort at hatching, 1st time hatched 30 out of 30, 2nd time hatched 4 out of 20, on this 2nd hatch, right as they were hatching, we had subzero temps and high wind, couldn't get the bator to hold the temp and lost all the rest
I am using a still air incubator that I added the fan to after the last disaster and an egg turner
I also ordered some leghorn eggs from e-bay, they are to arrive this next week

have never candled any, but did order one

there is a story about the roo, I was needing one as mine had been killed by a dog,(he was a real protector of his girls) one day i go out to feed my hens and here is this young rooster standing outside of the pen.
the closest person to me with chickens is 3 miles away and it wasn't one of his, anyway, i open up the pen and leave the door open, come back later to close it and he is in with the hens and they have all accepted him, he has now been here just about a year and no clue where he came from
