ANYONE HAVE EGGS DUE!! CHARTS ON PAGE ONE POST ONE!! NEWCOMERS WELCOME!!!

I have chicken and quail eggs going into lockdown on Tues, more chicken eggs on Thursday. I'll probably split the difference and lock them both down on Wednesday.

Then I have more chickens going into lockdown on the following Monday.

Hmmm, staggered hatches can be a hassle. Maybe I need another incubator to act as a hatcher. But that might only feed my addiction, I currently have 111 eggs "cooking", mostly shipped with probably around half developing. And YAY, next week is my week off work. I can wear a path to the incubator windows!

sounds like my situation. lol im worryed on settin the first 5 late into lockdown but i dnt want to set the other 37 to early. i set them all today into lockdown.

I must admit, my favorite part of the day is when I have treats for my chickens in the afternoon and I walk out my kitchen door and call for them and they all come running (mine free range in the afternoon) haha, nothing beats seeing them running and flapping their wings to get there before the other chickens

the only thing that can beat it, is when one gets a treat and runs with it and the others chase after it

This is my 3rd time hatching...on Day 5, set 42 eggs and I'm using an egg turner this time and a circulated fan kit. I also bought a digital thermometer/humidity.

What should humidity be? I am seeing alot of different opinions. Mine is showing 55% right now. Temp is holding at 99.5 - 99.7

Trying to increase my hatch rate. Thanks!

Hold your humidity at 35-45% for the first 18 days. Bump it up to 60-65% at lockdown (18 days for chickens). It will naturally rise to around 70-75% when the eggs start to hatch, depending on how many you have in there.

Your temperatures are fine.

Good luck.

I had filled all 3 of the water trays in the incubator. Should I let the water evaporate in two of them to bring the humidity down to 40% or 45%? Thanks!

I would just take out the vent plug for a day and see what happens. You might just lift the lid for a couple of minutes, put it back on and then let it stabilize. Sometimes when I add water, it gets a little high, but it will naturally drop back down. If your humidity is still up after a day or so, you can try putting a small bowl of dry rice in and it will help to absorb humidity. If you truly FILLED the water trays, it wouldn't hurt to open things up and remove some of the water.

But I would first try to just let the humidity naturally drop down over a couple of days. If you're on day 5, you have lots of time.
