Day 7 was yesterday... Candled and 13 out of 15 Polish, 2 out of 7 Silkies, 2 banty mixes are all doing good. i left the others in and will toss next week if there is still no sign of life..
can hardly wait til St patty's Day...

Hi all a little disapointed.But I did get 2 baby chicks out of 13.O e on the 1st 1 on the second.No ducks hatched.Letting the rest of the eggs in a few more days.They all looked like the pics of candeling.Wonder what went wrong?But am happy with my 2 new babys.Sorry I can't post pics yet.Not enough posts.Good luck everyone on your hatch.Have 25 button quail due on the 12th.and ordered more duck eggs so hoping for better hatches next time.

What kind are they?

Here's the fuzzy butts from Friday and Saturday hatch. They all ran from the camera.

Three out of six. One never pipped, two hatched but didn't make it .

Final count was 5 chicks from 10 eggs. not bad for my second go, think i'll adjust temp slightly next time.

Congrats!! What was your hatch rate?

i started with 55 eggs. A few wernt fertile, a few were quitters, some didnt hatch from first hatch because they had crooked beaks, 5 out of 7 from the first eggs hatched. all 34 of these are looking good so far.

Has anyone done an "eggtopsy" on a egg they thought wasn't alive but it actually was? I haven't yet, and I hope I never do!

What would you do if that happened?

i did once. what i usually do is make a small whole above the air cell, look and c if the membrane is moving, if it isnt i continue, when i can c the who top of the membrain i get it wet and look through to c if chicks moving. if it is i wrap it in a wet paper towel and put it back in the bator.

id leave ducks longer, they hatch later than chickens. Hope u get better luck next time. Good Luck!
