ANYONE HAVE EGGS DUE!! CHARTS ON PAGE ONE POST ONE!! NEWCOMERS WELCOME!!!

Well, my son went back to school a little bit ago and we have 6 chicks out, several pipped and zipped. The one chick that they thought might have died is still in the same position it was in when he left to go to work 4 hours ago. He said it doesn't look to be breathing at all and it's beak is closed. It didn't make it out of the shell. I'm worried that if it is dead that the other chicks could get sick or something from it staying in the incubator overnight. But I don't want to jeopardize the hatch by opening the incubator either! What do we do??

Open it up VERY QUICKLY. It shouldn't hurt. Momma hen regularly leaves the nest, so if you open the bator just long enough to grab the chick everyone should be fine.

Well, unfortunately everyone has gone home for the night. I'm going to go to school first thing in the morning to see what's going on. Maybe by then all would've hatched and I can bring them home. I hope they make it ok through the night with that one in there. I'm a nervous wreck now!

Need Help Fast!!!!!!!! I have a chicken that was born this afternoon and I am wandering to I take it out or leave it in the incubator till all are born????

I've never done it, but i hear you can leave them for three days because the yolk they absorb lasts that long. hope that helps
