I should have planned this better and made our lockdown for school days so I would have other things to keep my mind busy... Not that I don't have anything to do with 8 kidders still at home but I wanna watch them eggs all the time

I came home from a birthday party to find one of the choc. Indian runner ducklings hatched out

Three more are pipped and trying to zip and the other has no pips but I hear cheeping! So cool! My first time hatching ducklings.

This IS the most impatient time.. lol... I just hope all goes well.. my incubator dropped to 97 for a couple hours yesterday thanks to MY cat.. she rubbed up on the dial...

She's since been banned from the room.. IN all this chaos I have learned that in the next batch I'll be sure to put them were nobody can access them but ME

I don't think it has killed them.. but who knows.. we'll see..

97 degrees isnt bad at all. i found the temp can range from 95-103 degrees without damage.

Well, all but one fertile egg hatched! Not sure what happened with the last one but since it had no pip DH and I checked it out. It was cold, then after DH opened it up he saw that it had somehow dried out, fully developed but dry.

I'm so glad to have gotten 7 out of 8, I think that's a great hatch! Hubby is ready to fill up the bator, lol. Turns out the eggs we have in the fridge are just a little too cold, from what we've read. I collected eggs twice today and the second eggs collected will be going in, once we collect some more. We have about 7 dozen eggs in the fridge so I guess I'll just collect eggs for incubation for now, lol.
