ANYONE HAVE EGGS DUE!! CHARTS ON PAGE ONE POST ONE!! NEWCOMERS WELCOME!!!

Just an update on my Ancona Eggs; They're on day 15 today, and after candling them, I saw a huge difference from day 10, they're starting to actually look like babies instead of blobs! Every single one of them are moving around, and have awesome veining. I can see through my eggs so clearly I swear I could tell the coloring on them.

HELP - If anyone is reading this thread today I need some advice. I have a duck egg that was due to hatch yesterday. I could see yesterday that it had already poked its beak through the membrane (I think that's what I'm seeing anyways), but it wasn't making any sounds at that point. I could see veins and movement yesterday too. Today it is making occassional peeps if I shine a light to it, but I can't see veins anymore. There is no sign of pipping through the shell, but some movement. I'm pretty sure the humidity was too low as the air cell on this egg is huge, like almost half the egg. I want to break a tiny hole in the shell on the air cell side so I can see whats going on in there and wet the membrane if it is dried out, but the shell is really thick and hard and I don't know how to do it without breaking the whole thing or hurting the chick... Should I just leave it alone? I think since there's no veins that means it's already used up most or all of the yolk right? So Im worried about it being stuck in there, but I don't know what to do

. Any advice would be much appreciated!!

i would help it, if the shell is hard then it cant get out, slowly peel the shell from where it pipped and try to help it out

Thanks! I did manage to get a hole through the egg and see that indeed the membrane was very dry, but as it turned out the chick had actually not broken through the membrane at all yet (it looked like it had because I could see a big bump through the shell on one side, where before it was completely flat, but I guess it had stretched it a ways?). Anyways, so I wet with a q-tip, and after a few minutes it had torn a tiny hole through with it's beak, but other than that and peeping every once in a while it's not doing much. I decided to just let it be for a few hours and see what happens since there was blood in the membrane, so I think it's a little early for it to be hatching out all the way. I was worried because it was due yesterday, but I think the development may have been delayed a bit from getting cold so many times while it was under the care of my broody duck, who eventually lost interest in her clutch (which I why I am now hatching it indoors!). Thanks and I will post if anything changes.

ya id would give it time. The cold does slow development. Keep posted on how it does!!!

Today is day 14 for most of my eggs. I've 10 in the incubator. They all appear viable, even a couple I wasn't too sure about. My Silky is sitting on 3 of her own eggs. They are all viable although 1 appears to be slower in development than the other 2. I'd taken 5 eggs from the incubator 12 days ago and gave to my turkey who had no mate but was broody. One egg was heavily soiled and didn't show signs of life. The other 4 are growing just fine. When I opened the soiled egg it was to discover it had never been fertile. So hopefully this time next week I'll have 17 babies!!
