Pictures!!! please. I love to see pictures of babies. I have to wait another week and a half before mine hatch. That blue chick is adorable.. with its white wings against the blue.. but personally myself, I would never attempt anything like that.
Well, finally Thurs. night April 5-- 7pm I had my first pip. 10:30pm, my second. Friday morning, those 2 had hatched.. and had many more pips and a zip! HOURS later, out of 18 fertile eggs, that were in the incubator at lockdown, I have 17 live chicks, 9 I put in the brooder last night, and 7 are in the bator this morning. The other 2 eggs, I can see, one has a pip.. the other could too, but it could be upside down, the way the others in there knock them around, lol.
A very colourful batch!! yellow, black, black and white, browns. They are from my shaver red hens.. and 2 roosters I hatched here under a broody, eggs I got from a friend. So.... they must be a layer breed cross of some sort. They are every colour under the sun. And, she doesnt know what they are either. Hoping for lots of pullets from this batch. I can't believe how long it takes from the first pip, until they have all hatched. Killer, waiting on those last two.. I want the incubator cleaned, and filled again!
Ok disregard my other post. I have to learn to read all the posts before I post!Well, heres my batch! I KNOW I put 18 good eggs in there. But... I have 17 live chicks... and had 2 eggs left over. They had check marks on them, marking them good! ALL 18 had moving embryos at day 8 when I candled them. I put 5 x's on clear eggs, and a check mark originally on one that looked good.. but had a suspicious dark line on it. So, when I candled IT a few days later, it was bad, and I put a line thru the check mark, and at lockdown I candled all 6 again, and threw them out, when I lay down the 18. So, how did I get 17 chicks out of 18 eggs?? With 2 left over? I am totally confused. I remember putting them in the egg carton, the duds filled one whole side. I had 4 rows of 6 eggs in my brinsea Oct advance 20. Ugh. Is this chicken math gone bad?? lol. Anyway, I have filled it last night with turkey and guinea eggs. Here we go again. I triple counted btw.
If I have posted something similar to this twice.. I apologize. I am not used to spending so much time in one room, gawking at incubators.. or a box with chicks in it, lol.
You are very welcomeTHanks for the chicken and duck calender for hatching very useful!!!![]()

haha no doubt that she's a girl; and if your Rouen is the same age, and still squeaky than he's most likely a boy. They take longer than the females to start making adult sounds. Good luck at the fair!lol i only have two. They are the same age but the rouen is squeeky lol. I entered the swedish as a boy in the fair. But i guess its a girl! yay im happy about that lol
I have a hygrometer that I got off amazon for like $6, I think. It works great! It's for reptiles. Here it is http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004257JY4/ref=ox_ya_os_productAlso do u have something to tell u what the humidity is? I wouls put a small glass of water in there to help keep it where u want it. That way ur not opening the bator to much
I'm not sure yet...I think I do but the humidity is a little hard to keep consistent. I'll let you know later, this is my first hatchohh i was thinking about getting one of thos. lol Do u like it??
I just checked my silkie eggs. None were good. They were suppose to hatch today. I did an Egg topsy and one was deformed. One had a weird bump on its head, and the other two failed to absorb the yolk. Soo no silkies for me. I dont like shipped eggs
