Anyone have eggs going in today July 1st?

MariposaMama,

My three pheasant eggs are still growing. I dont know what I am going to do with them either. I just wanted to get some EE so that i could have blue eggs in the morning and the pheasant eggs came with my shipment. Wouldn't you know it...my EE eggs were clear last night when I did my final candle ): Can pheasants and chickens live in the same enclosure?? I am going to build a 4x4 coop and a run for the welsummer and CM that i have in the bator. Am I going to have to build another coop for the pheasants too??? What does your co-worker have?

She has a separate pen set-up for her pheasants. Her chickens are cooped at night and free range all day.

From what I understand, it's not a good idea to keep chickens and pheasants together, I think because the pheasants need a different food and the chickens would probably harass them.

I think I'll wait to see how many actually hatch and survive before I make a final decision on what to do with them.

How is it going? I took mine out of the turner, added water, and did my final candling. I lost another buff, but it looks like everyone else is doing good! 3 more days until babies!!!

I did my final candel last night too. Lost two Welsummer eggs, but all of the others look ready to go. Humidity is up and the bator is all locked up.
Good luck to everyone!
PS My two Americana eggs were clear so i went on craigslist and bought two chicks on Friday and put them into the brooder. If they are one week old, will I have any problems with pecking or anything else on Wed/Thur when my eggs hatch and I add my new ones...

I think I've lost 1 of my chicken eggs, but the other 4 still look good. Having trouble seeing into the pheasant eggs any more, but one was wobbling a bit while I was turning them this afternoon.

I won't go on lockdown until Tuesday since it was the pheasant eggs I put in late evening of the 30th and they take 23-25 days. The chicken eggs went in on the 4th so they all should hatch around the same time.

ETA: Bosque, you shouldn't have any trouble putting the new ones in with 1 weekers, just make sure the new ones are completely dry and steady on their feet first.

The only ones I have been losing are from shipped eggs. I started with 15 shipped buffs with one infertile/ scrambled. The other 4 had funky air cells, but I have been hoping for the best. I also have 5 EE mutts and 5 Isa mutts that are doing excellent.

OMG!! I have staggered eggs in my bator...started Duck eggs early so they would hatch around the same time as Chicken eggs...well one Duck egg is 26 days today and I just looked at them and it pipped!!!
