Anyone have eggs going in today July 1st?

Hi guys!
I know it is still a little early, but I am planning on getting the water/feeder and the feed this week. Are you going to use medicated or non medicated chick starter? I have a barn yard special in the 'Bruce-O-Nator 5000' (home made bator) and have never had chickens. In the bator are 3 pheasant, 3 Old English Game Birds, 2 Americanas, 3 buff cockins, 5 cucko Marans and 15 Welsummer eggs. What is the benifit of one feed over the other?

I couldn't stand the idea of not knowing whether or not my pheasant eggs were growing so I threw the 8 chicken eggs I collected yesterday in there with them last night. At least with them I can candle in a week or so and know if my temp fluctuations are having any bad effect.

Well this is a bummer.. I did a final candling tonight and it turns out 7 of the 12 silkie eggs are not developing

I even cracked the non-developed ones open to make sure and all were plain water yolks

I just candled mine following your post and the pheasent eggs have really great development, but my Old English Game Birds are clear too. After 6 days in the bator and no growth, does that mean they are dead?

Most likely they were infertile to begin with, just like my silkies.

I candled my babies last night...

Out of 15 Buff Rocks 13 are developing nicely, one is questionable and one had airspace problems.

My 4 EE eggs are doing good and my 4 Isa eggs are doing good.

So far I am really happy.

Two more weeks to go.

10 Polish mix
3 Silkie
3 Bantam Cochin
6 Seramas


ETA: I started 6 Indian Runner ducks a week ago so all should hatch around the same time...Candled the Duck eggs on Sunday 5 look good one is iffy...I will candle everyone on Sunday 7/12.
