Anyone have experience with a blind chicken?

@PhantomSlayer How's Kiora doing?

My chicken is fine. I've been at home the last month so I could make sure she eats properly - she is not so clever at foraging and at the moment we have too many chickens and she is rather at the bottom of the pecking order. The plan is to limit the number of them quite significantly so the older ones will go (they still bully the younger ones a bit and chase them off food). Still, she's well - putting on weight briliantly and active. She jumps on the roost by herself now. I used to put her up and every evening she used to wait and come to me to pick her up and place her on the roost which was really cute but I wanted her to be more independent. I actually think there is something wrong with her eyesight. But she's not blind just probably can't see that well. She became our pet chicken really, comes to be fed is so friendly. I'm wandering if she'll work out where to lay eggs when the time comes :D
The last photo - she's the one on the left
Finally managed to get pictures after letting them out for free ranging. But yeah its hard to get her to be near the others. The brahma is 3 weeks younger and I believe the easter egger is 5-6 weeks younger. I included a picture of one of the other australorps and as you can see Kiora's comb vs the other is very small. Their the same age. We try to make sure she gets some treats. She likes hiding under our porch lol

Oh, I thought she would be smaller 🙂 I've got na Australorp 20 weeks old and she's also small, smaller than a regular chicken. In fact, some of my 12 weeks are the same size as her. The cockerel is bigger than her already. She is nice and round and has a developed comb though.
Anyway Kiora doesn't look miserable which is great. Hopefully she will lead a fairly normal happy chicken life. I hope my chicken will do too. The last resort is to keep her at home but I'd rather not since she obviously wants to be with her mates (had to keep her indoors for one day and it was difficult to make her eat she was so stressed). I just worry that when i go back to work she wont be eating enough. But she was ok in the brooder so maybe she'll get used to it.

All we can do is try our best. I would hope Kiora isn't miserable. Last night when I went to lock them in the coop for the night she and the brahma was laying in the corner and kiora was sitting on her head. It was cute cause the brahma didnt seem bothered by it. I hope you have good luck and all birds stay healthy and thrive :)

We finished our nesting box yesterday. Hoping they'll figure out that they should lay in there and not in a corner lol.
