Hi I got 8 new chicks this year, 2 are Welsummers. Looking forward to this breed, but I'm almost sure one is a rooster. He has had a comb since 3 weeks of age-none of the other chicks have a comb. Any insight into the personality of the roosters would helpful as I need to decide what to do with him very soon.
Are they aggressive? Or perhaps an asset to the flock in some way? I have 6 other breeds here-and really don't want a rooster unless there's a good reason to have one.
That said if anyone is interested in having him I would give him away.

Thanks for any advice on this

Welsummer roosters are sometimes aggressive. It depends on the individual bird. The only reason you really need a rooster is if you want fertilized eggs for hatching. Your hens will be less stressed and will likely lay better without a rooster around.
