I've "used" Ouija boards before. Too many people use them for entertainment (like the statement on the box: entertainment purposes only). It's a tool. As with any other tool, you have to know how to use it. Like a simple screwdriver, you could hold it wrong and it could slip and gouge a hole in your hand. Or a chain saw, cut a log or cut off your leg. <*shrugging*> Or a mechanical pencil - if you don't turn the end correctly, lead won't advance and you can't write a thing with it, but use it correctly and you can write, draw, scribe, scribble, or shade. But no tool has a life of its own or endangers you if you use it properly. No devil in a can opener, for instance.
Always use tools correctly. Don't futz with 'em if you don't know how to use 'em.
