Anyone have luck catching a feral chicken?? UPDATE: Rooster caught, no hen

So no sooner do I get a call that someone wants to adopt Mr.Rooster , he escapes!!!:barnie Little booger. Somehow flew up and over the run attached to the quarantine coop. After a brief chase I got him back in :lau

Anyhow- he goes to his new home on Sunday afternoon, very lovely people. And he will get to spend as much time as he wants INSIDE the house. Her other chickens are house chickens :)

And I let them know that if for some reason it doesn't work he's more than welcome here

Pictures are from his grand, yet short lived, escape.

He looks very proud of himself!

That's exactly what mine have been doing and it's making me crazy. I don't really care that they're tossing the hay all over the place, but stop getting it in the water dish! Then they sit there and act like they haven't had a drink in days & it's my fault. I did take a small tote and stuff it full of straw last night. Unless they managed to pop the lid off then at least that part was contained. And the nesting box I stuffed into the corner where they were laying is constantly empty.. all the straw pulled out of it too, but when I moved the box out of the corner they just kept going back there like they missed it. Chickens.. I swear.

My guinea hen’s favorite nesting spot was a Rubbermaid wheelbarrow. Everyone layed their eggs in there and usually like 2 to 4 hens would go broody all at the same time. It got pretty crowded and I had to take them out once everyone was hatched, but it was nice that I could just wheel them to a different spot if needed! Here’s a picture of their MNU (mobile nesting unit):
