Anyone have luck catching a feral chicken?? UPDATE: Rooster caught, no hen

I must say I do like this thread & the people here. There's been a rash of people who sticks up their butts lately re: going off topic in a thread, esp while you're waiting to hear about what's up from the OP. Maybe it's the shorter days, or the colder weather. Am I the only one who acknowledges that conversations over time will naturally progress and shift topics? That's how conversations work, people bring up different topics and ask questions while someone is available, share stories, etc. It's just annoying when people are obvi trying to help and be supportive but then someone is a killjoy. I think the image of an old man waving a cane while yelling GET OFF MY LAWN! comes to mind.

Speaking of feral burds, we just had 3 turkeys move into our yard. I want to let them stay and lay eggs so we can steal some babies :) But it is turkey hunting season and my dad has been sitting in our yard with a bow. lol. @theuglychick, at least your husband isn't hunting the squatch! lol. Update on the cake:just gave it to them this morning. They were very suspicious of it at first-one of them literally jumped 2 feet into the air when I set it down-but they quickly figured it out and by the time I left for school they were gathered around it and devouring it.

My heart is broken for y'all. Lots of love for y'all.

Well my chicken peeps.... Many of you will remember that my sons dog had dental surgery last Wednesday.... With many biopsies sent to the lab.

Lab work is back and the news is the worst possible. Malignant cancer with a few months at best. He won't eat so I do not think we have months.... More like a few days to a few weeks.

If I seem a bit off or ghost for a while I am sure you all will understand.

@apryl29 "Get off my lawn". :p

Awesome! I'm going to have to try that. I just bought a flock block from TSC (10% discount shopping spree) to give them when winter finally hits to keep them busy, but I like the idea of making them at home, esp b/c using the oven heats up the house! I did get a cabbage last night to try hanging from the rafters to keep them occupied and getting some veggies. It's going to be interesting to see how that goes. Has anyone ever done that?
