There is no stopping some Orpingtons! I ended up with 1/2 Orpington 1/2 Sultan, trying to get "Big Mamma" away from other chickens. She hid the eggs in the Oleanders, came out amazingly soon with very cute mutt rooster clutch. Out of 10, 7 were blond male copies of an annoying pet Sultan. Murray McMurray sends a "free exotic" chick, man does that free chick cost the parents!View attachment 1168401 View attachment 1168402
*The discreet undergarment for easily embarrassed hens.
Posting this here too because I am not a highjacker
Something to focus on while breaking a broody Buff.
Trying to make her stretch her legs a bit.
She's temporarily out of chicken jail, wearing a diaper , and being forced to follow mearound and watch me clean house.
I'm trying to show her that being a mother isn't all that it's cracked up to be!!!!
Omg. Sometimes I crack myself up.
X2 !!

I used to get lots of free veggies from Safeway to give the birds. The produce man saved me the trimmings, I gave him eggs. I had to keep them in chicken concentration camp (CCC) due to all the dogs in the neighborhood killing them, so no free-ranging for most of them! Free range only for the ones I wanted to die, who of course lived happily in the bushes!Exactly!!!!!!
Awesome! I'm going to have to try that. I just bought a flock block from TSC (10% discount shopping spree) to give them when winter finally hits to keep them busy, but I like the idea of making them at home, esp b/c using the oven heats up the house! I did get a cabbage last night to try hanging from the rafters to keep them occupied and getting some veggies. It's going to be interesting to see how that goes. Has anyone ever done that?

Take a screenshot and attach it to that thread I mentioned yesterdayUgh! It's glitching again![]()
Eat, unless you want to try to give them away, too! You can't even give them away. AS SOON as they start to be annoying it is time to send them to "freezer camp" They will seem too small, just do it!I keep one my husband’s old dove chairs by the coop. It fold up extremely small.
I saw the comment about the roosters for sale or give away on Craigslist, etc. I have 11 (soon to be 13) unsexed chicks, what am I suppose to do if I end up with 10 roosters? Either sale, eat or make a separate pen? What are the other options?
