Anyone have luck catching a feral chicken?? UPDATE: Rooster caught, no hen

It is absolutely beautiful! I love to take snow filled vacations.

Here is our record snowfall 3 years ago ( I am in north Alabama). It was probably around 8-12”. We pray for snow every year!

Here is how we predict snowfall

The snowmen here wouldn't fit on the screen! I'd love to see the snow predicted that way though. Much happier then listing it by the foot.
When it's deep I tell my Australian Cattle Dog "go to the chickens" and she plows her way through. I carry a shovel behind her and make a path. I use the plow truck to back pull part of the yard for my chihuahua. At a foot deep he disappears in the boot prints of others.
When the snow hits and the "winter in Ohio" memes start showing up I'll have to share a few. Weather here is like nowhere else! LOL

Totally know what you mean about deep snow. We have had some that were up to the top of the tailgate on a full sized pick up. Dang city doing us a " favor" came with bull dozers to clear the ice dams from the gutters.....piling it in Volkswagen sized chunks where folks had dug cars out and just weren't back yet.

The look on that guys face when I told him not to put it there. He refused to move it til I told him to get out and I would move it.

I think we are due for another winter like that.

I have really enjoyed this thread and it is just what I needed!
I have been a long time Facebooker, and I have become so tired of feeds being clogged with shared articles. I am tired of seeing 10 pictures of your kids every single day. And I am really tired of seeing your selfies and your perfect life you portray. Over it. I like to keep it real, I am over the fakeness.
Since getting new chicks and being drawn back to BYC, I am thankful to make some connections on here.
Anyway, stepping off my high horse now. ;)

Cold and windy here today, the leaves are finally showing come color. Feels more like winter than fall though. I feel like we always skip over fall and soring. We are so cheated out of mild days.
Believe it or not.I've never had a Facebook page. Sounds like Im not missing much

I got them from a client about two months ago she gave me a leghorn because she was to loud for her neighborhood and Malinda wasn't supposed to have chickens hoa rules. Well the other day she got a letter from her hoa saying she can't have chickens and asked if I would take them for her :( she was sad and cried. There names are Lucy wyandotte and Samantha EE

I would cry too.
Bless you for taking them.
I too, have my tiny flock on "the down low". Our county has relaxed the rules as to small backyard flocks.
Still we are a few feet short of the lot size requirements.
But the ordinance people announced last year that they were tired of fighting it and would not be peeking over anyone's fences looking for chickens.
They said as long as you didn't have a neighbor call to complain or report that you weren't taking care of them you would be in the clear.

The chicken movement is quiet but HUGE here, like a secret society. since I'm an avid yardsale shopper I've met at least 100 chicken families with urban flocks.
Our surrounding neighbors know our secret and are supportive because we gift them with eggs and we keep the coop and run as clean an anal person's hampster cage!
Since we are at the end of the last street of our development and back up to a neighborhood without an Hoa, we hope that any noise is blamed on those hippies on the next street over.
The only problem I face is their egg song since it's always such a joyous event.
Personally I could listen to it all day long, but I have them spoiled to come immediately to my call for a treat.
Hilariously, Margaret Tate, who is the loudest in the bunch will stop mid note if she as much as hear the handle of the back door.
I have a flower pot hanging from a hook just outside the door with a variety of surprises in there for them.
