Anyone have luck catching a feral chicken?? UPDATE: Rooster caught, no hen

I think it was a language thing. BYC gets all ages from all countries so keeping it G rated is important.
Yes, It was an age inappropriate statement—but something they would clearly hear on TV. Some folks are very sensitive and love the "Report" button.

When you consider chicken math, our building projects are never done. I find myself building a new shelter, when birds move out of the brooder. That gives me five weeks to get it done.

"Off topic" kinda......
You know... One thing I will never understand here in Colorado.....
The cruddy coops at the farm stores,Costco and such sell like hot cakes.
The small coops I have built with real lumber and real wire and real thought cannot hardly be given away.

Hubby wants me to sell the broody house. I have about 200 into it. I had left over siding and plywood from the 6x8 coop or I would of had even more in it.

I think I will use it for small ducks instead! Black east India ducks are small......

True. And should be. But oh no.
I said a*****e here a few days ago. I hope I don't get kicked out. :hit:hit:hit

I don't think they would kick you out. Maybe clean it up and send you a notification.

Last year I got in a discussion where someone was basically attacking me for taking issue with a neighbors freed feeder rats. They edited one of my posts and removed the other persons posts all together. I did not get a notification or infraction so.....
Must be OK.

Lol! I am one who got fed up with poor management at my job (job was building things).
Now I find after 20+ years building stuff for others I am a bit lost..... Soooooo I can follow instructions, design requirements AND build stuff......
Can I still head south even if I don't drink wine and just build stuff instead???
Absolutely, BYOB! I'm TERRIBLE with building stuff so maybe I can learn from you! I have built stuff before, but it seems that after I do it I realize that I should have done it differently. Like my nesting boxes, poop board, entire coop in general. I'm much better when someone tells me exactly what to do. Like the instructions for my coop were really good, until it got the frame done. Then it was basically 'Now put on the walls and roof on and you're done. Ummm. I'm gonna need a little more instruction than that. The drawings weren't that great and I measured wrong so my side walls have a tiny section on one end.

True. And should be. But oh no.

Hmmm I guess I should go edit my post above.

People don't want to pay for it. I paid $200 for a small coop and run from TSC for my rabbits years ago, it was advertised for rabbits or chickens. It was really nice and I wish I'd kept it, but my parents were moving to a trailer so it went w/ the bunnies. I didn't really feel like it was worth that much, but my kids were younger and less expensive and as stated above my building skills are severely lacking. But I agree.. I saw this one on TSC 'on sale' down from $1k to $950! and thought wow that's nice.. until I saw the price. Um, no thanks... it's 90% fencing and was for 12 chickens.. how would 12 chickens fit into this thing? https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/p...IDAY+LPOTS-_-Producers+Pride+Pro+Chicken+Coop. Those chickens best be laying some golden eggs for me to pay 1k for that coop.

Five weeks?!?
Better get a move on.
Where you are that means Winters coming!

That happened to me not once but twice:lau
Most people I know learned after the first time, but in most cases it was a married young/divorced/remarry in their 30's situation so they basically had 10 years between their sets of kids. My youngest is 12 and I've been divorced for 10 years & I'm currently single so I'm pretty much in the clear, though I know a couple people who had kids in their 40's. I'm in the home stretch now so I have my crib tucked away to repel any bad mojo that might try to surround me & if a guy starts chatting me up I start talking about my chickens.
