Right now it's a bit damp in there b/c it's been raining almost constantly for the past several days. Wet chickens come in and shake the water all over. Will that be an issue?
I'm glad I'm not the only one who's working on coop stuff now. I spent the evening crawling around in chicken poop to get a box built for my cockerel so he'll have a little more sheltered space, plus block the wind coming from the south west across the field. I have to finish it off this weekend once the rain stops. I'm never done with this thing... I still need to deal with the poop board so I can use the pdz stuff. No one ever tells you that your coop is never done.
Well that explains it. I just unfollowed that thread. There was another one I unfollowed too. I get people wanting to stay 'on topic' but the situation was resolved & the op was participating in the convo. What ticks me off the most is that the people who complained the most about going off topic were taking it off topic themselves. Absolutely ridiculous, I guess 'the rules' only apply to some. Plus, if something came up, then someone who comes along later revisited it they'd get their panties in a bunch b/c they were done with it. SMH. IMO if an OP has a problem with the topic going off, esp after things are resolved then they are fully capable of saying something. I went back and looked to see if my 'off topic' comments were deleted and they weren't.. so IDK what they meant by 'tidy now'. And then they started attacking people b/c they didn't read through 500+ messages & offered a suggestion for catching the chickens. Sorry they didn't want to look at your 'off topic' photos of your chickens eating a pumpkin to find out about the 'on topic' chickens that the post was about and made the mistake of assuming the chickens were still on the loose. In fact, I have yet to see one person on THIS post attack a single person who pops in to offer a suggestion on catching the elusive chicken, or asking what's new with it so apparently it's not that hard to be kind and civil for some of us.
I think we all know that if we all got together to do something chickeny we'd all have different ideas of what to do, & wouldn't be able to decided on anything. Then end up sitting around drinking wine and eating while we ooo'd and awe'd over each others chickens.
It is MOiST here too!!!
And I was in laying in chick poop too. I think it is more of the feed that gets mixed with the poop, I don’t know. But a brooder area stinks!! I don’t know how people ferment food. I tried it and nearly vomited. When it gets mixed with water outside the coop I cannot deal with it.
It is easy enough to say a rooster found, but no hen. I mean, I am not reading through 300 pages. Get a grip “stay on topic” & “read the thread” people. So rude!
I have been staying up at night thinking about this run I am about to build. I will need all week to finish it doing it by myself! Today is out, 3 days are cut in half. I have to get this done before dh gets home! Being a 1 woman show, I am starting to panic a little. We could make the southern circuit!!! Tennessee, Alabama.....need some more in the South needing coop helpers!!!
If they ever make a "chicken people 2" documentary, I'm sending them your name!Yea, I need to start on more winter housing. I need to create 6 more breed stations and a couple of bachelor/bachelorette pads.
My coop stinks too, but mine was legit poop. Off the one chicken door we put a couple wood planks to make a porch and Odin seems to think it's his own toilet. You'd think all this rain would wash it off, but I have one of those sun tarps that cover it so it doesn't get the kind of pressure it needs to clean it off. I might take a hose to it this weekend, but yesterday I had to use a hoe to scrape poop off of it before I put a tarp scrap down to sit on while I worked. Still ended up covered in poop and had to scrap poop/ mud off my tennis shoes this morning. It is MOiST here too!!!

I painted our handles black. We have a big red air compressor and maybe that is what draws them in. I try to hang the feeder by the door first and usually they come out. Otherwise I wait until dark and get a ladder to climb and grab them. Those little suckers are loud.
They fly in our glass door and sometimes die. I kept one over the weekend because it had broken his back(?) and couldn’t move his tail. I took him to a recue vet. I assumed they probably put him to sleep, because I don’t think he could be rehabed. But I don’t know for sure.
My bf had her dog on CBD oil for the last couple years of his life. DRASTICALLY improved his (& everyone else's) quality of life. He was much less Mr cranky pants fun police since he was in much less pain & could be more active.
Her brothers tried to take the cannibis oil to get high but got nothing from it. Serves em right for takkng medicine from an old sick dog!
Most people I know learned after the first time, but in most cases it was a married young/divorced/remarry in their 30's situation so they basically had 10 years between their sets of kids. My youngest is 12 and I've been divorced for 10 years & I'm currently single so I'm pretty much in the clear, though I know a couple people who had kids in their 40's. I'm in the home stretch now so I have my crib tucked away to repel any bad mojo that might try to surround me & if a guy starts chatting me up I start talking about my chickens.
Lol! I am one who got fed up with poor management at my job (job was building things).
Now I find after 20+ years building stuff for others I am a bit lost..... Soooooo I can follow instructions, design requirements AND build stuff......
Can I still head south even if I don't drink wine and just build stuff instead???
I think it was a language thing. BYC gets all ages from all countries so keeping it G rated is important.
