Anyone have luck catching a feral chicken?? UPDATE: Rooster caught, no hen

Triple sow cow:eek: omg!
Throw a hammel camel in there too :wee

Disclosure: I wanted that haircut so badly when I was a kid. :hit
Me too but I had naturally curly hair :barnieI hated it! My mom would have me bend down and lay my hair on the ironing board, lay a pillow case on it and iron it ......no straightening irons in the 70s.[/QUOTE]
I always had fine whimpy -do-nothing hair.

My aunt did that for my cousin every day.

Thanks for checking.....:hugs
Sounds like you are doing everything right, some birds and some breeds are just more sensitive. African Greys are one of those breeds in the world of parrots. Just need higher calcium than most parrots. I gave Dylan Calcium Gluconate drops for 20 days post egg binding problem. You have to be careful not to over-dose on calcium, too.

AAANNND to top off my lovely weekend my dog has some sort of injury on her neck and my rooster went after me in the coop. :barnie:hit:mad:
I'm so sorry you're having all these problems, FN. I feel for you. Went through all that divorce sh*t, a couple of times. It does get better, eventually your life gets peaceful again.

Need help with the dog injury?:hugs

Good morning everyone! I dropped the birds off at the auction and now I’m getting second breakfast at Bob Evans near the auction site. I’m debating just going back home. They said they would mail me a check if I didn’t stick around for the auction. For those that are interested, here is a picture of the redneck chicken cages. We cut a 2 ft wide by 4ft high wire round that we use as potato cages and stake down as temporary chicken holding pens in half. This is what the round looked like.

I shaped the halves into rectangles, bent the cut wire over cut a bottom and top out of 1/4 lawan (plywood), dropped the bottom in, zip tied bottom where needed and zip tied the top on in a hinge fashion, dropped the birds in and zip tied it the rest of the way shut. Sorry I don’t have a better picture. It was before dawn when I left and I took this before loading them into my van. I meant to take one when I dropped them off, but I forgot. But you get the idea. The nice thing is that they stack.

Well, I can't remember who had the hot apple sauce, but I'm jealous. I may have to go back to Virginia to find apples. No one around here seems to have them. I need to make apple sauce and juice for the baby.

I used half of the 40lbs of juice grade organic apples I got in my Azure Standard order. I’m going to can some of the unsweetened applesauce and turn the rest into apple butter.

I have a vet I can take some chicken POOP to... or I can order the chicken POOP test on Amazon........

..................................................................................... balls

What poop test on Amazon? Is it reliable or are you pulling my leg?

Oh no!
What kind of injury?

Hard to say honestly. The fur around her neck is thick and black. I can feel a bump of some sort and it's oozy. It's right under her collar so I took that off for now. I tried looking at it and she freaks out. Like riding a bucking bronco! She likes a cold compress on it and she's let me do that a little. Hardheaded Healer!!

Good to know. The lady that owns the place is incredible and very knowledgeable. Her birds are healthy and gorgeous

I can attest. Gotten several birds from her and planned on a few more. Maybe not now though....

Do you think her feed it price comparable? It would be my luck I'd buy it and no one would eat it. Also, do you drive here to get it? I think shipping would be a tad expensive.

Anything we can do to help?

Nothing I can think of. It's nice to know everyone is thinking of me and my little menagerie.

I may need help building a coop. LOL

If I'm totally honest it's the finances that worry me most. I would forgo food before I'd let my pets starve. A cleaning lady doesn't make much money. Hours are limited because places want the building cleaned while no one is there. So I make several stops a night and even work in the day at times too. Makes keeping any sort of schedule difficult.

I know I will figure out how to take care of everything that needs done. I'm scared, I'm hurt and I'm angry. But I will go on!

I also give them fruits and vegetables every day. Kale, cucumber, squash, spinach, blueberries, strawberries and things like that
This could be a good thing and it could be a bad thing.
Bad only if she gets TOO much of these things and fills up on them before she gets enough of the complete feed.
I know it doesn't quite make sense and I haven't figured out a good way of explaining it just yet but it really is better for them to eat just a complete feed daily and every now and then a treat or two.
Not daily.
