Anyone have luck catching a feral chicken?? UPDATE: Rooster caught, no hen

Pics
Please tell us what you saw on the cam, if you have a chance tomorrow morning. The anticipation is killing me!
Yes please!
I might have to check this thread for updates, from bed, before I even get up to make my coffee, -and believe me people-
THAT is saying something...

Wish I could come and hunt for them with you!

Oh, oh, oh I bet animal planet could turn it into a mini series thing...... Bad camera work and jumping at imaginary peeps and all!

For added drama someone could "disappear" every now and then!

Sorry so late, I had to get the toddler down for bed and that in and of itself is far more difficult than trapping any chicken. Then I had to whole boxing up my bantams in pairs because their coop/pen isn't nighttime predator proof yet.

Anywho...

Ok update: full disclosure... I'm still trying to get the darn traps apart.

I'm impressed by their ability to put the little trap inside the big trap.

This might as well be a ship in a bottle.

My dad trapped for a living for most of my childhood but we used palette traps. This whole "have-a-heart" thing is new to me.

Here is a pic of what I'm working with.

*Hard root beer added for scale. And for my drinking pleasure.

Cam is set. I put SD card and hubby put fresh batteries in it. I'll put food and water out tomorrow.

Seriously, is there a trick to getting the traps open? I'm going to fiddle with it some more.
