Anyone have luck catching a feral chicken?? UPDATE: Rooster caught, no hen

I would be, IF my 6.5 mth old girls would start laying any!!

Same here I have a bunch of freeloading silkies 21-30 weeks and no one has started laying. My husband was helping put away groceries the other day and asked me why we have spent nearly $1000 on chickens and building a coop and still buying eggs

LOL don't blame you! I have 2 salmon favs, 2 EE's, 1 buff brahma, 1 cream legbar, 1 white orp, 1 sl Wyandotte and a black australorp. The BA just started squatting the other day. 26 week old Freeloaders!!!

I feel your pain. My adult hens are molting, no eggs. My adult ducks are mad at me for changing their feed, No Eggs. And my youngsters aren't there yet, No Eggs I was getting upwards of 20 eggs per day. I've got about 3 dozen left in the fridge, DW says "we ain't buying eggs!"

Hopefully, next year, I'll have a staggered molt so at least someone is laying at all times.

When you get an egg from your Aussie can you post a pic? I still haven't been able to figure out which egg is from my Aussie.. I tried looking up pics, but it's frustrating b/c most pics show several eggs from several different breeds.
