Considering that we've altered the sparse laying cycle of jungle fowl during the domestication process to get modern day chickens that lay nearly every day, I don't doubt that there are some birds that do produce more than one egg every 26 hours. I have very close trusted friends who swear that they get more eggs in a day than they have chickens. A lot of things are possible!
