Anyone have luck catching a feral chicken?? UPDATE: Rooster caught, no hen

@apryl29 - the 6-6 was a bit arbitrary, It gave them light to eat about an hour before sunrise if they wanted to. Usually they were waiting on their roost where they could see me arriving to feed(with the fermented stuff or sometimes warm oatmeal on real cold days) thru the window. And then it stayed light for about an hour after sunset. If I had wanted max eggs I would have gone to 14 hrs. They went inside as dark fell outside.

Just curious, what type of coffee do y'all drink?

I was raised on Community Coffee (that's actually the name), and that is what everyone that I knows drinks.

Just curious as to what the rest of the world drinks.
I keep a jar of cheap instant for most but grab some brewed from my brother next door. I want to get some of this kind for him to make me...

Thanks. I did, but didn't see anything time related?

Wow, now I am excited, I didn't realize Alex was real. Well they are filming part of his story at the other end of my block!! Will have to keep you posted on what they film in my neighborhood. Could we use this movie on the chicken channel?
There is a book by his owner Dr Irene Pepperberg(sp?).

Onions AND chicken poop!
Lucious combo. Good luck with that!
Have a super duper day. We'll just be here waiting for you to come back. Be careful driving! :frow:wee

I need to buy a dog crate to bust my broody.

What size do you recommend?

18Lx12Wx14H
Or
24Lx18Wx19H. ?

Currently have cat locked in my bedroom and have chicken in dogs crate in living room.

That won't fly when the husband gets home.
Plus the dog crate is a 42"

I want this small enough I can put it in the coop.

If I had a sick or injured bird in the house (icu situation)
It'd be in the big crate.

I'm just talking about broody busting for a couple of days.
Amazing the walk in the door and buy it price is $59
But the purchase online and go pick it up price is $24.

That's a pretty big difference in price.

you could probably get away with the smaller crate since she'll just be trying to brood the entire time.

When she starts to move around it's time to set her free, anyway.

I would choose the bigger one, but then I always choose a container too big for what I want to put in it!

We drink Folger's here. Yup good ole Folger's.

My sons Malamute is going into surgery very soon. He is losing many of his teeth. Poor guy has some seriously bad genetics. I am worried. He does not handle anesthesia well at all. Even mild make em sleepy stuff makes him a mess for days.
My son will be devastated if his dog passes. The dog is 8+ the son is 28. No wife or kids just him and the dog.

:fl:fl:fl Just me and Tucker also, I know how he feels.:hugs

I can get it from the cajun grocer or amazon for about $16/pound, so when I find myself near LA, I stock up.

That's not cheap, but it sounds gooood!:D

Found the poop. It's embedded into my shoe laces.
Sometime I'll tell about accidentally going to work with a carefully wrapped bag of dog poop in my coat pocket! I wondered about the odd smell for some time before I realized. At least you knew what you were dealing with.:lau

:lau That's funny!

This reminds me of a funny story.

Back in 2004 or 2005ish, a coworker and I had to work at an event Houston, Tx. It was a dog event, so naturally, we had dogs with us.

We could smell that one of the two dogs with us (crated in the back part of an SUV) desperately needed to potty so we stopped and waited (and waited and waited and waited) for them to go and nothing ever happened so we figured false alarm.

So we loaded back up and proceeded to cross the atchafalaya basin bridge. The third longest bridge in the US.

And as you would expect, the 130# Cane Corso gave up the good fight and unleashed the smelly turd demon he had been wrestling with the entire time right in the crate while crossing the bridge. I think he only weighed 120# after that.

Luckily there are stops along the way so we didn't have to ride in the breath-stealing stench for the whole 18 or so miles, but we did ride for about 10 minutes or so, maybe a little longer, with the windows down, steadily gagging and dry heaving.

I guess it could have been worse. It could have been the causeway bridge!

Sending good vibes and prayers!!!

Just got a notice on my door: they will be filming a movie called "Alex and Me" all next week on my block. The movie is going to be about a Gray Parrot! So y'all can think about me while I can't find a parking place due to the parrot movie. :he
I read the book, it was great! Of course, it was about an African Grey, that does make it better to me!

Ok, I wasn't sure if you did it so they didn't have too much time in the evening w/o being able to go outside. I like the oatmeal idea. I'll have to give that a try.
