Anyone have luck catching a feral chicken?? UPDATE: Rooster caught, no hen

Flying squirrels are back! I hear them in the attic and they are keeping me awake! They must have gotten the memo that our first frost is tonight.

Yup! :D

The hens have their own coop; the roosters have their own coop; and my little bullied hen, Chesta, has her own coop.

With all the rooster talk I hear, what drew you into keeping a flock of roosters? I have 18 chicks and I know I there are going to be lots of cockerels in the bunch.

@Smuvers Farm this is my little Sumatra cockerel :) gifted to me by someone I met on here, actually!!! He's a funny dude- likes to chase squirrels :lau

I never did the face book thingy. I figure it is more for the young folks.
:old of which I am not one.

It has been a long life full of bumps and bruises. Some my own fault but many foisted upon me. To pretend otherwise would be to compromise my integrity. Not ready to let that go...... Dignity? Nah that left long
ago... :lau

I got hubby a shirt that says "Here hold my dignity. I got some sketchy $h!+ to do."
One of my favorite shirts since there is always some sketchy $--- to do.

Love the shirt! I might have to go out and look for one!

Well, all. I'm logging out for most of the weekend. I have a bunch of traveling and visiting to do and I HATE the iPhone app for this wonderful forum. So, I doubt I'll be on a bunch. Hoping to see some advancements on the squatch situation over the weekend. I'll miss you all.
I have android and hated the app too. I just go to the site through my chrome browser.

Ditto....I pulled my son out of school 2 years ago and started home schooling. He barely passed the 8th grade at the local private school, but is now 10th grade and getting A's and B's in an online based homeschool!
A lot of the online schools are pretty good too. My cousin pulled her son out b/c he was having problems. Did the online thing and went back to finish his senior year at the school to get a 'real' hs diploma. We also have a vocational school here that IMO is pretty freakin' great. I hated my homeschool b/c of jerky people, but loved the vocational school & 99% of the people there.

Thanks @21hens-incharge and @rjohns39 for the links.
I can't drink caffeine... it makes me sleepy. The cost of being on unregulated Ritalin as a child. Ugh!
My brother has the same problem w/ coffee, but he was never on ritalin. It just works the opposite for him. When we were teenagers he'd drink coffee to help him sleep.

It's not just for 'young' people. Both my parents are on it. My brother is in CA so it makes it easier for them to see pics of their grandkids & see what everyone's up to.
The part I hate the most is all the girls w/ their damn pics of their boobs. One girl I know posted a pic of her in her halloween costume.. I didn't need and up close personal introduction to her cleavage. My goal as a parent to 2 young ladies is for them to NOT post pictures of their boobs on the internet in a desperate bid for attention.

Speaking for pictures! Look at me! Look at me! Look at me!
I did these while sitting with my chicks the other day. My Silkies from day 1 to 5 1/2 weeks.
Lemondrop is turning out to be a big bully and is currently sitting in timeout for bad behavior.View attachment 1173103
Buttercup will be a great mom, if it is a she. She is buddies with Lemondrop, but leaves the big girls to nurture and cuddle the smaller ones.

Crybaby is still small, but the limp on her right leg seems to be gone. And she no longer cries all the time. (Sweet Diana cuddling. RIP)View attachment 1173114
Hoppy just blends in with the crowd.

Smokey. Hangs out with the smaller chicks and larger chicks. Loyality is divided.

Onyx hangs out with the big chicks, but doesn’t stand out in the crowd.

Your photos are amazing! I'm super jealous. Mine always end up blurry b/c chickens refuse to stand still.

I'm not looking forward to the snow. The Ohio weather has been so crazy up and down I'm not sure what winter will bring. Could be mild or it could be horrible.
We had to start the furnace today. Coal...what a mess.
My apt has baseboard heat. The only room I'm currently heating is my kids' bedroom. Which I'm now realizing I forgot to to turn the heat off this morning before we left. We live in a basement so it doesn't really get cold enough to heat everything for a while.

@peckpeckpeck
HA HA HA HA! Yep that's Ohio. We have 4 seasons, Fall, Deep Snow, Spring and Construction. "Don't like the weather. Wait 5 minutes."
I can confirm.

It really doesn't seem like much when 11 are bantams :p
I read that bantams don't count when it comes to chicken math. I have 2 and I figure each one equals 1/3 to 1/4 of a regular size chicken.

Anybody in Ohio remember being out of school for several weeks and not getting back to full time for nearly a month back in the late 70's? I was in Findlay for that one. Snow caves by the pine trees in the front yard and serious snowball fights with my brother.
I don't remember it b/c I wasn't alive, but I heard about it many times and I've seen pictures. They used bulldozers to clear the roads and the cars that were hidden in the snow where pushed into ditches.
