Anyone have luck catching a feral chicken?? UPDATE: Rooster caught, no hen

I've seen a lot of these fights unfold over the last couple of years. Folks need to be armed with facts and shoot down the ignorant. People who nothing about chickens, come up with all kinds of things such as humanly raised, dirty, salmonella, and on and on. Best to be armed with animal welfare standards, from recognized organizations and true science about disease and cleanliness. Often it really boils down to someone thinks yards with chickens make the town look unsophisticated.
:goodpost:

Hubby took our soon to school. Yeah!!!!! I took a Melatonin last night, slept better and feel better today. The ole bursitis and arthritis are disrupting my sleep. I am not old enough to be dealing with such foolishness for the past 8 years.

I need to go free the chicks from the brooder, after coffee, talk radio and BYC. Priorities folks!

That older gentleman who is coming to pick up Lemondrop is so excited, he keeps posting on the FB Silkie page. It makes me wonder if this will be his first because he was asking how they stayed so fluffy. Like they were bathed and blow dried every day. I think I may shoot him a message and see if he has any questions.

Have you tried taking Turmeric and/or Boswellia for your pain? They're herbal supplements and while they don't provide immediate relief the way analgesics do, once you're been taking them regularly for several days to a week you should feel less and less inflammatory pain. I began taking them after plantar fasciitis and arthritis left me feeling pretty darned crippled. Now I only get bothersome pain on cool, damp days.

What city...I need to whip that person.
Pepper Pike, Oh

Oh, they have to be fenced in and only in the back yard. The coop, If that's what you can call it, has to be so far from the property line and other existing structures.

I'm zoned agriculture and a registered farm... Zoning, was one of my chief considerations before buying. If I buy more than 8 of any farm animal other than poultry in a given year, I have to get a license for that animal. So when I buy hogs, I'll buy 4 from two different farms. 1 bore, two sows, and 1 feeder. Then they will be allowed to be fruitful and multiply.

I bet your PIC didn't do much to try to talk you out of getting them either as he is infected too. ;)

PIC was squealing like a friggen PIG once they said we could have them..... before we even could SEE them... squealing I tells ya.... PIC needs a swift kick in the arse... or needs to go to regular school instead of home school!

The cracked corn I think is too small, as well as spoiling when it is opened. The whole feed corn they love, have to make them work for it. Whole scratch the same, but I think they do not pick it all up as well, small pieces attracted rodents in the CA area I used to live in. HATE rodents!

I hope the 50# bag I have is whole corn... if not I'm screwed....
