Anyone have luck catching a feral chicken?? UPDATE: Rooster caught, no hen

What other uses?

I gots my turkey in a brine and will be deep frying it tomorrow!!

Can y'all post some pics of your breeding pens? Rotating or otherwise.

Mine is a 20 X 40 greenhouse with a standard door in the middle. I run T-Posts down both sides leaving a 4' walkway (actually its shaped like an L as I have a double door on the other end and keep 5 feet for feed and such). I then create 4 chambers with 6' chicken wire and run bird netting down from the roof. Each pen has a door that opens out into the hall. I also put boards inside the door frame to keep them from digging out.

BTW, looks like shelf life for cracked corn is about six months or more as long as its kept dry and in a cool dark place. Cracked soy if 4 months as are other high oil grains.

I'll post some of what I currently have later on, I want to build a "breeder row" with a run for each group. Most of the breeding pens I'm seeing are for good weather breeding and not very predator proof. I'm putting a lot thought into what I want to build.

More pics.... kinda suck, kiddo was taking them... but anyone venture a guess as to breed (s)? The guy told me, they came with a roo... but the roo was charging at their customers. Said one day his brother basically drop kicked the roo and broke it's wing... and then he THINKS a fox or coyote got it... but no, never fixed it's wing or culled it or anything. After that story, I really had NO CHOICE but to figure out how to ge tthem out of that situation.
The brown ones look like the tetra browns that I got from TSC.
The white ones, maybe amber browns or leghorns. < never mind that part... just saw the thing about white earlobes.

Wish I could give you my sweet broody girl. She'd be a great mommy.
I have two girls that are great Mommies. My Dominique/Buff hatched our first babies this year, and a Buff girl who hatched out my almost 5 week old chicks. I'm trying to breed some broodiness into my mutt birds. Hen hatching is EASY.

X2 :frow @CSAchook
You can be a sq'watcher too if you'd like,
We are not a closed group and our conversations meander around a little but it's lots of fun to have other peeps to talk to in between talkin' chicken.
But..but....but I thought I already was a squatch watcher :hit
I've been here since at least page 5...
Did you mean to tag pegasusi? She is new and shared a helpful link for buying hardware cloth:confused:

That is a cool idea. I've been trying to figure out how to do a green house inexpensively. The one problem I run into with a lot of my chicken structures is that I don't really have any truly flat ground.
