Anyone have luck catching a feral chicken?? UPDATE: Rooster caught, no hen

No you haven't because every time you figure it out it changes :lau:lau:lau:lau:he

We have a rule book. It says just when they think they have you figured out...change. ;)

@Smuvers Farm
Hard to be sure about a roo....they look OK but dirty and possibly molting or stress plucking. A good dust bath will help them a lot.
Do you have some Pete moss, sand, and maybe wood ash? I would make them a dusting box so they can get to it.

They are super lucky now.

I'm not 100% certain, it's hard to see and the feathers on that bird look sort of ragged. So I will be interested to know if I'm right or wrong.:D
I just figure if it were a rooster, the hens would be bald! Pretty close quarters, but he would be mating them I would think.

We'll be putting a dust bath in tomorrow, along with some roosts and the brown chickens. We literally just slapped together what we could today, as it's again rainy and moist.... plus a LOT of ground covering fog.....

The only ones we have right now.......

There are actually.... 8.... 5 brown, 3 white... we picked up the whites today. Here are pics of the whites and their quarantine area:

Poop is worm free, and they FINALLY got to stretch their wings and FLAP LIKE CRAZY!!!

Uh, is the one middle chicken a rooster?
The brown one is the only one that looks cockerel to me

@Smuvers Farm I think that middle one might have been the roosters favorite hen. The tail feathers do look long to me but the missing neck feathers and slight bald spot by the butt say over mated hen.

I could be totally wrong though. LOL
That's why I have doubts as well, could it be moulting?:confused:
