Anyone have plans to make a plucker from a working washing machine?

The book combined with the website are great. Lots of good information. We also added the dunker/soaker book as well but that will be a later project. We are still working on getting all the parts together. I saw an ad in the Backyard Poultry mag where the company in the ad sold "fingers".

Do you mind emailing me the PDF as well? <jubileefarmCA AT Gmail DOT com>

Thanks!

It would save us all having to duplicate your effort of contacting the creator of the youtube video for the PDF plans (I have, and he has not replied) if we could make the PDF plans available here. I don't see a way to add attachments here. If you don't have someplace to put the file for people to download, I will email/PM you my email address and you can send me the PDF and I will create a link so others can download.

Thanks

I went a head and sent you the pdf when I got your email but.... to post it publicly in my mind is a copy write issue. The document was created by someone else using their own creation and if posted to a public forum it should be done with their written consent. I have no plans to do that. When I emailed him it was a number of days before he responded but he did.

Very talented hubby got the Whizbang book and PDF of washing machine plucker. He made his washing machine plucker by attaching the plate to the shaft that spins the drum, and made the drum stationary, using all the controls still in place. We tried it today - our first processing. The plate would spin until we put the large birds in - then it stopped spinning until we removed or lifted the birds. We could use it to remove feathers while holding them up, but there was not enough power for the plate to tumble the birds. Thinking he will get farm motor and try again.

But the process went smoothly with his slaughter area all set up. Birds look great!

Never herd of such!?

They made it at MIT but I have seen other versions prior to this. It's made for low-income areas and most of it is just an old bike and two drums, an inner perferrated drum that spins and an outer that sits still, holds water etc.

I bet you could make that into a pedal-powered chicken plucker instead of a whole, expensive, hard to move washing machine and bicycle your way to a cleaner chicken! XD
