the other to are actually quite calm, they wait for the other chicks to do something before they do and they don't chirp loudly when I hold them

So I got them!!! So sweet! I will have to take some pics later. My question is they have no poofs! Will they grow the poof? They have the thickest beards, but no poofy hat!

Oh good! I was hoping they would grow them! Top hats are my fav! I have heard sultans are not only friendly, but also awesome egg layers! I can't wait for them to grow up! I hope I get at least one pullet!!! I have had bad luck with cockerals this year (1 pullet out of 5 polish chicks!) My polish is standard and lives with my egg layers (1 ss, 1br, and 1 delaware). They do not pick on her or her poof but I thought some standard sultans would fit the bill as far as size, eggs, and poof so she is not the only poof head in my layer flock!

Yeah, Sultans are really friendly and make wonderful pets. They are pretty docile as far as chickens go. Mine will lay approx. 3 eggs a week, but Sultans usually lay only 70 eggs a year on average. As far as crest size goes, you can tell from a young age whether they have vaulted skulls or not. Even without a vault on their heads, they most likely will grow up to have their top-hats, though not so large. My first Sultan started out with vurtually no crest and grew up to have a very, very small one. My second had a pretty defined vault and grew up to have a big one! Hatchery Sultans tend to be flakey like that.

Be really cautious with adding more crested birds to your seemingly peaceful group. We had one Polish originally and she did very well with our flock. But when we added more, they started to get picked on.

Got new pics of my bantam sultans this afternoon. They're 6.5 weeks old now, and really cute. They're shy, as I haven't had time to handle them much and they're growing up outside in the teenager house. But they're calm when I do handle them, and awfully sweet. I'm thinking they're both girls now. Both have the same shape crest, and the feathers in their crests are looking quite rounded. In these pictures, the front ones look spiky because they've been drinking, so they're not really that shape.
