Anyone heating with propane or natural gas? Yikes!

How much propane per month are you guys using?

Anyone?

Our propane tank has been running on fumes for the last 2 yrs. I use it for my gas stove, that's it. No other heat in the house other than a couple of electric heaters. It gets quite cold in the house.

I just filled up with 250 gallons, and that cost 680.00. That is a lot. We just installed a wood pellet stove to try and help save. We will see how that works out for us.

We have a 250 lb. tank and filled it for the first time this year, about 3 weeks ago. We had always had Amerigas but switched to a different company. The difference was .60 a lb. Amerigas wanted 2.29 and the local company 1.69. Kind of a no brainer. Plus we had to pay rent every year on the tank.... $62 and the new company is $12.

Propane should not be nearly that high. Oil and Nat gas are down.......there's no reason for propane to be at that price.

I want to get a Ben Franklin since we have power outages from time to time and I can cook on it too but I hear our homeowners insurance will skyrocket.

We're using about 75-100 gals per month. 3400 sq ft walk out ranch, propane water heater, furnace and stove. No fireplace

Just looked at last invoice it was 150 gals for 232.50. 1.55 par gal. The one before was 435.00 for 170 gals. Price went down a little.

We keep our thermostat at 63 during the day and 58 at night. Get out those blankets and comforters. Kids complain some. Too bad.

Do you guys know if there are any fees if you switch companies? Does the first company come and take their tank away? Or do you just line the tanks up?

When I switched companys, the new place just wanted to make sure we owned the place, not renting. They brought new tank out, moved other tank in the same spot. Then I had to threaten old company to pick there tank up.

We put in wood heater this year. Last year we couldn't afford propane and we froze.

We paid a $30 set up and delivery fee. The old one is still here and Amerigas said it will be at least a month before they get out here. It's out of the way at least.

Just a FYI. Anybody installing wood burning anything in your house. Be sure to let your Homeowners insurance agent know. If your house burns down and it is the stove they can and will deny your claim.

Mine gets filled three times a year at about 750.00 each time!!! I do not know how big it is. I put in Heat pump two years ago and instead of filling up 5 times a year down to 3 but my electric bill went up so I have no clue if I am saving or not!!!
