Anyone here use the welded wire fencing for chickens?

chicken stalker ;p :

BTW I bought mine at lowes ...maybe the welds are stronger??

I have heard this is where to buy it, that it is stronger and the welds hold much better.

I'm in the process of putting up welded wire for my chickens. I decided to put up the 6' (I had to special order it from Lowe's). If I had to do it over again I think I would have put up the 5' wire instead. It has been a nightmare to pull tight, I think the 5' might have been easier to manage. However, it seems to be well made.

Do you know what brand it is? Hmmm, I'm gonna have to look into this.

Welded wire is great on a flat area. We have several pens made from it, but if you are on a slope, it's a bit tricky because it does not flex. We used field fencing on a huge portion of our area because it flexes well, but it has much larger openings and you have to back it with something or any bantam or smaller bird can go through it. Plus, field fence only comes up to 4 feet, I think; at least, that's the tallest I've seen. It's generally cheaper than welded wire. A 330' roll is about $150.

It was called Redbrand. I just bought some the other day to make another run.

Is there a reason you prefer 4x4 posts? They're like $2 more each, and it adds up so I just wondered if there was any real benefit to the bigger posts.

I like the posts because they look good, and they are very sturdy. We have 4 dogs, 2 run with the chickens, and 2 drool over them

So i need to feel that they are safe. I also like the posts because i can hang stuff on them. I put bird houses on the tops of some posts. I plan to put a plant hanger on one for a plant

We're getting ready to build a new run and will be using that too. Probably the 48" instead of 60" though since we'll be putting bird netting over the top.

Im using to put up a fence. I should have about 50 foot left over I plan on using as a coop (boyfriend just doesnt know it yet!

). Its a heck of alot easier to stretch then chicken wire and IMO looks better!
