Eek... Early post!!!! Anyway I wanted to say those of you that gave me advice on adding the new ones to the brooder.. Thank you!!!! We are having a great time and right now the older buffs are cuddling with the little orps!!!!! Just look at them!!!

Just found out that my chicks are ready! I have been waiting since I ordered them last October! Looks like they will probably be shipping next week! I am getting 10 bantam Orpingtons, 5 blue, 3 black and 2 splash. So excited! Now I have to clean out the spare room & get the brooder set up.

You will be able to tell the white rock and the leghorn apart because the leghorn will have black or gray spots. The white rock will not. Speaking from experience... was in that same situation

My BOs aren't as friendly as I though they'd be! The Jersey Giant it the sweetest of all... She's already a little smuggler!

Our shipment from Ideal came in today, 20 chicks and no packing peanuts. We lost one chick, a Partridge Chantecler, shortly after getting home with them. It was doing poorly when we picked them up and I was not able to get it to revive enough to give it electrolytes. We also lost one Sumatra pullet from our Meyer order late yesterday. Everyone else is doing fine so far.

sorry you lost one!!! Mine showed up almost sparky clean, peepin and haven't had a problem... I'll definitely order from Townline again. It was about 24 hours from shipping till arrival, from Michigan to Idaho. And with 2 extra CX!!

It's okay, it happens. We've ended up losing 1 Sumatra (from Meyer) and then just the 1 from Ideal. I have to call Ideal up on Monday to report the loss. On the bright side, there are 30 eggs in the incubator with an April 2nd hatch date.
